Number #2 - The Ice Bath - I do not even desire to explain how to do this. Simply, a rubbermaid tub is filled with ice water, some vinegar is added, the Xbox 360 is unplugged and submerged within the water/vinegar blend. After so many minutes the console is removed, drained of water and immediately plugged back in. Need I say more. I actually got word of a kid who attempted this and was severely shocked. This as a lot of other fixes was presented as a youtube video. It is definitely quite reckless and should be removed. This fix is easily the most preposterous fix of the three in consideration. Advice: Don't even contemplate applying this fix if you value your life.
Number #3 - X-Clamp Repair - This is the only genuine repair I've discovered thus far. It happens to be as fixed as it gets. Do not use it however if your Xbox 360 is still under warranty. Send the console back to Microsoft and let them honor the warranty. On the other hand, when the seal is broken and/or it isn't under warranty this repair is the best choice. This is actually the repair in a nutshell; you open up the console, remove the x-clamps, cleanup the old thermal paste, put fresh thermal paste on, substitute the x-clamps by using screws and washers, reassemble the machine, overheat, let it cool down and it works on around 90% of the units.
